A rainy Tuesday

Dekker in Arnhem is an example company. It is a renovation firm with its own team and regular subcontractors.

  1. Ruud messages from site

The extra work sits in a message, with no price and no approval.

  2. Rain stops work

The hours lost to the weather are on paper in the van, and the build time depends on them.

  3. The architect sends drawing v4

The site still has v3. Nobody is sure who has which version.

The same details typed in four times, and the photos for the handover file are still on a phone.

Between site and office

Extra work that gets stuck in a message

Extra work is agreed on site and ends up on WhatsApp or in Excel. If you do not say in time that it costs more, you risk not being paid for it.

Extra work you record once, with the price, the effect on the build time and the customer's approval.

Who is where tomorrow, and is the installer coming too?

The schedule for your own team, the subcontractors and the deliveries is in one person's head. One day of rain and everything shifts.

One schedule per project, with phases, teams and subcontractors, which the site manager keeps up to date on site.

The customer phones to ask how far along you are

The photos are on people's phones, the diary is in the van and the customer only hears anything when they phone.

A site diary on your phone, with photos the customer can see for themselves.

Which drawing is the right one?

Drawing v4 is in an email, v3 is on site and what was agreed with the structural engineer is in a message.

One place per project for drawings, versions and agreements, on site as well.

Exact keeps doing the accounting

If you do your estimating in Ibis or Calc4you, we take the estimate from there instead of having it typed in again. If you already use Bouw7 or OutSmart, we start by looking at what works well in it.

Questions from contractors

The lads on site don't want an app.

Then every update is a single action, whether that is a photo, a line in the site diary or an approval. What they already send on WhatsApp then goes straight to the right place.

Yet another subscription for every app.

That is why we build one system instead of adding another app. What is now spread across four apps ends up in one place, and the code and data are in your name.

We already have Exact.

That stays. Exact does the accounting well, and we build the step before it, from site and extra work to the instalment invoice.

Does this also work for new builds or maintenance?

Yes. On renovations for private customers, extra work, instalments and handover have to be in writing, in terms a consumer can follow. On new builds under the Wkb, the Dutch act on building quality, the file counts as much as the work, with photos taken before anything is covered up. Maintenance for owners' associations (VvEs) and housing associations means job sheets, often dozens a week.

What does it cost?

One fixed price, agreed after the design. It depends on where we start, whether that is the extra work and the site diary, or the instalments in Exact as well. We only start building once you agree.

On site, with the site manager

We spend a morning with the site manager and then sit down with the office. Afterwards you get a short report on what we would build and where we would start.
