One trip, from Rotterdam to Hamburg

Linders Transport in Venlo is an example company. It has six lorries, two planners and an office waiting for the CMR.

  1. Brouwer emails a different loading address

Kees is already on the road. Nobody knows whether he knows.

  2. Kees has loaded up

The temperature is a WhatsApp message and the CMR is a photo.

  3. Kees has to take a 45-minute break

Four and a half hours since 09:14. The planning board does not know, and neither does the customer.

Kees 13:44 break! Billbrook still on time?
  4. Billbrook signs the CMR

The original travels back in the cab, and the invoice has to wait for the paper copy.

The planning board, the cab and the customer

Who is driving what, and are they still allowed to drive?

The planning board is in Excel or on the wall. The planner works out driving and rest times, waiting hours and any change from the customer in their head.

One planning board for trips, drivers and lorries, showing where everyone is and how much driving time each driver has left.

The invoice waits for the CMR

No signed original, no invoice. The trip comes from Excel, the surcharges from the day sheet, and everything goes into Twinfield by hand.

A CMR that the driver completes in the app, with photos, and that is attached to the invoice straight away.

Where is my load, and how cold is it?

The customer phones for an arrival time and the planner phones the driver. The temperature comes in on WhatsApp.

A customer who can see the arrival time and the temperature themselves, so nobody has to phone.

Are we making money on this customer?

Costs are rising faster than rates. You only see what a customer brings in once waiting hours, tolls and empty runs are known for each trip.

The cost and margin per trip and per customer, from the on-board computer and the planning board.

Twinfield and the on-board computers stay

We read positions and driving times from the on-board computers, and the invoice goes into your accounting with the signed CMR. If you use Transpas or MendriX, we start by looking at what already works well.

  • Trimble or FleetGOpositions and driving times
  • Twinfield, Exact Online or AFASyour accounting
  • WhatsAppwhat does not fit in an app
  • your rate cardcarried over, not replaced

What planners want to know

My drivers don't want an app.

Then we build it so they get home sooner, with the CMR done in a few taps and no more day sheets. They do not have to fill in anything the tachograph already knows.

We already have a TMS and on-board computers.

Then the gap is usually in between, in the hours, the CMR and the invoice. We build that part, on top of what is already there.

The planner has everything in their head.

That is exactly the risk. We record what they know, so the company keeps running when they are off sick or on holiday.

Does this also work for distribution or refrigerated transport?

Yes. In general haulage and international work, the CMR, driving and rest times, tolls and a return load for the way back all count. In distribution and groupage, it is about the order of the stops and what happens at each one. In refrigerated transport, the temperature log belongs with the trip, just like the CMR.

What does it cost?

One fixed price, agreed after the design. It depends on where we start, whether that is the planning board, or the CMR in the app and the link to the on-board computers as well. We only start building once you agree.

At the planning board, in the morning

We spend a morning with your planners and, if we can, ride with one of your drivers for part of a trip. Afterwards you get a short report on what we would build, and what comes first.
